The key to installing the pipeline centrifugal pump is to determine the installation height of the centrifugal pump, namely the suction process. This height refers to the vertical distance from the source water surface to the center line of the centrifugal pump impeller. It must not be confused with the allowable suction height. The vacuum height allowed on the water pump product specification or on the nameplate indicates that the suction height is the vacuum level at the inlet section of the water pump. In addition, the test was performed under the conditions of a standard atmospheric pressure and a water temperature of 20°C. It does not take into account the flow conditions of the suction piping. The installation height of the pump should be the part of the value remaining after allowing the vacuum height to be deducted after the loss of the suction line of the suction pipe. It should overcome the actual height of the topographic suction. The installation height of the pump must not exceed the calculated value. Otherwise, the centrifugal pump will not be able to pump water. In addition, the size of the influential calculated value is the resistance loss head of the suction pipe. Therefore, the shortest pipe layout should be adopted, and fittings such as the elbow should be installed as small as possible, and some water pipes with appropriate diameters can also be considered to reduce the flow rate in the pipe.

Centrifugal pump is a kind of vane pump. Relying on the rotating impeller, due to the interaction between the vane and the liquid, the vane transfers the mechanical energy to the liquid, so that the pressure of the liquid can be increased to achieve the purpose of transporting the liquid.


Centrifugal pump start to pay attention to four points:

1. The centrifugal pump has a limit value for the head produced at a certain speed. The operating point flow rate and the shaft power are dependent on the condition of the device system connected to the pump (position difference, pressure difference and line loss). The head changes with the flow.

2. work is stable, continuous transmission, flow and pressure without pulsation.

3. Generally, there is no self-priming ability. The pump must be filled with liquid or evacuated into a vacuum before it can start work.

4. The centrifugal pump is started with the valve of the discharge line closed. The vortex pump and the axial pump are started with the valve fully open to reduce the starting power.


Because the centrifugal pump lifts the water by the suction force of the centrifugal force generated by the centrifugal force of the impeller, when the centrifugal pump starts, the gate valve must be closed and watered. The water level exceeds the impeller area and the air in the centrifugal pump is discharged before it can start. After start-up, a vacuum is formed around the impeller and the water is sucked up. The gate valve can be opened automatically to lift the water. Therefore, the gate valve must be closed first.
